In a statement from the State House, President Tinubu praised the team’s dramatic comeback in the final match held at the Rabat Olympic Stadium in Morocco, where the Falcons overcame a spirited host nation to win 3–2. He lauded the squad’s determination, calling their performance “a spectacular display of resilience and the Nigerian spirit”.
“With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for”, the President stated. “The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you”.
Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin also commended the Super Falcons’ performance, describing the victory as “a testament to their resilience, talent, and unyielding national spirit”. In a statement issued through his Media Adviser, Barau emphasised that the Falcons’ success affirms Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
“This is a moment of immense pride and celebration for our nation”, Barau said, adding that the triumph would inspire a new generation of Nigerian girls to pursue their dreams in sports. He also acknowledged the coaching crew, the Nigeria Football Federation, and all stakeholders who contributed to the team’s success.
Similarly, House Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas applauded the Falcons, calling their win “well-deserved” and “a symbol of patriotism, hard work, and tenacity.” In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Abbas urged the Government to reward the team and recommit to grassroots sports development.
He called for the revival of inter-house and inter-school sporting competitions and advocated for a national “catch-them-young” campaign to nurture local talent.
